The Pearl By: John Steinbeck
Did you know a lot of books by great authors were never published? Well “The Pearl” was published for a reason. It’s a fast paced story with a well written ending and an epic climax. If you want to read a story that will keep you up in the air about what will happen next, then you should read this book. This book will have you guessing from beginning to end and will keep you begging for more.
The book “The Pearl” by John Steinbeck was in my opinion, a solid book. It had some downfalls such as repetitive words and parts where it seemed like the author ran out of ideas. Although these problems were noticeable, he quickly recovered from them in a way that surprised me such as having a huge amount of hostility or conflict going on between characters, or having someone get in a way you wouldn’t imagine. Also the books moral or meaning of the story didn’t come into view until later in the book. That I thought was very creative and intelligent.
Overall there were more good things than bad things and more well written areas than poorly written areas, and the way the book ended made me think there was going to be a sequel. I’m very surprised that there isn’t one because if there was Id surely read it. I also love how the characters actually have emotion rather than being like robots like in the other books I have previously read.
So putting all of these things in mind I give the book a solid 9 out of 10. I would most definitely read this book again sometime in the future.
