P.J.A.T.O.T.L..T

Have you ever dreamed about riding a flying horse, or maybe saving the world from mass destruction? I know it's a silly thought but I know I have. In the book "Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan, all your dreams could come true. The book kicks off in a tone that would make you want to stop reading, which is a downer, but it promises potential. Getting deeper into the Greek mythology based book, you start to see that it is speeding up, almost as if it has multiple climaxes rather than just one. That's something I would try to find in a book, so i really liked that.

Although the book overall was the best book I've ever read, there were some downfalls such as not being clear 100% of the time, and also not being descriptive enough but i think the author made me forget about ll of those mistakes by getting my attention with something else. Such as a character dying or a character having a near death experience. However its not something bad all the time. Sometimes its a character defeating the forces of evil. That's a pretty good distraction technique if you ask me.

So there was some good things, and there were some disappointing things but when you sum everything up, it all blends together. There are other books in the series that are better than this one, but this one stands out from the others. The reason being is it confuses you, gives you a hint and then fills you in on whats actually happening. I don't have a clue what he was thinking when he did this but i would classify it as a positive for the fact that it lets you think before it gives you the answer. Very good choice.

Putting all things into consideration I would say that the book is amazing and everyone who can read should read this book. The dream you had about defeating monsters and saving the world will come to life. On paper.
